Brett Helquist is a celebrated illustrator whose work has graced books from the charming Roger, the Jolly Pirate and Dickens’s timeless Christmas Carol to the frightening Scary Stories collections by Alvin Schwartz and the alarming New York Times bestselling Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Originally from a small town in Arizona, Helquist was a big fan of comic strips as a kid and dreamed of one day creating his own. Also interested in science, he entered college as an engineering major. But when he stumbled into a job as a textbook illustrator, he knew what he really wanted to do. Brett has illustrated novels, picture books, magazines, and newspapers. He lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his family.
