“The deepest way to change people is to get them to inhabit the soul of another human being who is different from them. And that happens in story. That happens in literature.”—Dorothy Allison
Our list of Diverse Books was created by the parents and teachers of the PS 321 Diversity Committee. Selections include recent and notable children’s books that explore the vast range of ways of being in the world. These are books in which children not only learn about others unlike themselves, but also discover that there are others just like them. We hope you enjoy these stories and share them with others!
All of the books on these lists are available on Amazon.com, where you can find descriptions, details, and reviews. Amazon.com© donates a portion of each sale to the PS 321 PTA. Many of these books are also available at the Public Library and local bookstores.
