LeFrak Center at Lakeside – Skate with Santa

Saturdays through December 19, noon. Free with regular admission/skate rental.

Saturdays through December 19th, skate with Santa at Lakeside. Plus, take a free 15-minute lessons at 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm.

Pig Brooch Theatre Company – A Charlie Brown Christmas Live 2015

Fridays – Sundays, December 11 – December 20, various times. $12 tickets available here.

Join the Peanuts gang again this year and help Pig Brooch Theatre celebrate its 8th anniversary in its brand new venue – Redwood Studios at 55 9th St. in Gowanus.  They’ll be performing the classic Charlie Brown Christmas Special word for word and gesture for gesture, set to a jazz trio performing Vince Guaraldi’s score.

Gelsey Kirkland Ballet – The Nutcracker

Thursdays – Sundays, December 10 – 20, various times. $20 – $59.

Gelsey Kirkland Ballet Company performs its version of the Nutcracker in the company’s brand new studio/performance space in Dumbo.

Brookfield Place – Luminaries 

December 2, 2015 – January 10, 2016, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Brookfield Place at Winter Garden. Free.

Designed by The LAB at Rockwell Group, Luminaries is a lighting display that follows the glass enclosed topography of the Winter Garden. Visitors are immersed in a glowing canopy of 650 lanterns, embedded with LEDs, each capable of changing color and intensity. Five different light shows – Snowfall, Christmas Tree, Ribbons, Firecracker, and Northern Lights – are scheduled throughout the day and evening every two hours beginning at 10 AM and ending at 8 PM daily.

High 5 For The Holidays – Santa Comes to 5th Avenue

Saturdays, December 5 through 19, 3- 5:00 pm. Free.

Also at The Old Stone House, Saturday, December 12, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. $10 per family (includes cocoa, crafts and photographer).

Santa will be coming to Park Slope on Dec. 5th at Le Pain Quotidian, Dec. 12th at Sidecar, and Dec. 19th at Lulu’s for Baby.

Holiday Season Nostalgia Trains and Buses 

Sundays through December 27, 2015, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. $2.50 (Metrocard swipe).

The Nostalgia Train is made up of subway cars in service along the lettered lines between the early 1930s to the mid-1970s. Equipped with ceiling fans, padded seats and incandescent light bulbs, the R/1 through R/9 cars served the IND and later some BMT lines. The holiday “Nostalgia Train” will operate along the M train route on Sundays only.

Prospect Park – New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Thursday, December 31st, 11:00 pm – 12:00 am. Free.

Join your neighbors in the Park for this annual family-friendly event. Hot chocolate served at Grand Army Plaza, along with live entertainment.

Prospect Park – Winter Recess at Audubon House & Lefferts Historic House

December 26 – Janury 1, 12:00 – 4:00 pm. Free.

Free family friendly programming courtesy of the Prospect Park Alliance includes nature games, science activities, historic crafts and games and the Christmas Day bird count.
