PS 321 is proud to welcome the celebrated pianist Lara Downes to perform on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 7pm in the auditorium. Called “a delightful artist with a unique blend of musicianship and showmanship,” (NPR) whose work is “luscious, moody, and dreamy,” (NYT), Ms. Downes is recognized as one of the most imaginative pianists on today’s concert scene. Her recent chart-topping release, A Billie Holiday Songbook, was called “possibly the most intriguing Holiday tribute” of this centenary year by Jazz Weekly. Ms. Downes will perform works from the Billie Holiday Songbook along with pieces by Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy. Ms. Downes mentors the next generation of young musicians as Director of the Mondavi Center National Young Artists Program and is the Founder and President of the 88 KEYS Foundation, supporting arts education experiences in California public schools through instrument donations and teaching artist presentations.
All tickets are $15 and proceeds benefit the PS 321 PTA.
