Dear families – everyone with kids in grades 3K -12 in an NYC public school will receive, via USPS mail, $420 per child in P-EBT benefits sometime this summer. Although the money is pre-loaded onto an EBT card and must be used by you at a grocery store or farmer’s market, THIS IS REAL MONEY – MAKE SURE YOU GET IT AND USE IT.
“What if I don’t need my P-EBT? Can I donate it?“
Everyone who receives P-EBT should use it, even if you don’t need the money. There is no option to transfer your card to someone else or return your card to the government, and using your P-EBT will stimulate the local economy. But, after you have used your P-EBT, you can redistribute the funds by donating the equivalent – $420 – to a good cause of your choice. We have some suggestions listed in our previous email and web post – P-EBT: What You Need to Know.
Refer to instructions in that post to check that your address is correct in the school system. It is very important that your address is correct.
Brad Lander’s office also has a FORM available for those interested in donating their benefits.
