Dear PS 321 Families,
IT IS OFFICIAL — WE ARE CLOSED TOMORROW
Our school has moved to all-remote instruction as we will be closed for at least 24 hours while the DOE and DOH investigate two new cases of COVID-19. Whether we will be closed beyond that will most likely not be decided until tonight or Saturday. I will let you know as soon as I have any news about that.
FOR FRIDAY, 1/15, OUR HYBRID TEACHERS WILL TEACH BOTH COHORTS REMOTELY. Our hybrid teachers will begin with a morning meeting at 9:30 UNLESS THEY EMAIL YOU AND LET YOU KNOW THAT THEY WILL BEGIN EARLIER. Small group work that they do tomorrow will most likely be with Cohort B students.
For Friday, for hybrid cohorts, only Cohort A students should go to your remote specials as you usually do on Fridays. There will not be specials tomorrow for Cohort B students. If we are all remote for longer, we will go with our all-remote special schedule which we will post.
I know how challenging this is for all of us, staff and families, and I’m hoping that we will be back in school on Tuesday. If we are not, we will make arrangements for Cohort B children to pick up materials if they do not have them at home. The teachers have sent home materials with Cohort A children.
Some of you have wondered if these cases are from our random testing this week; they are not. I appreciate that people are letting us know when they get private testing that is positive, as that is helping to keep us all safe.
Although I am very sorry to have to give you this news, most important is that the two people who tested positive are not ill. And, many staff members have already gotten their first dosage of the vaccine, which is a hopeful sign!
I will be in touch again as soon as I have additional information.
Liz Phillips, Principal
