MeettheWriters-01

Through the efforts of the MTW committee, up to 15 children’s book authors and illustrators come to our library and meet with our children each year, sharing their work, talking about their artistic processes, and answering questions from the children. The visit is followed by a brown bag lunch, during which grade teachers and MTW committee members meet and visit with the authors. Each grade typically hosts two visits.

Schedule for Remainder of School Year

    Livvie Mann, Monday Dec 14
    Betsy Lewin, Thursday, Jan 21

    Volunteer Jobs

    • Hosting author visits (setting up lobby, escorting authors through building, facilitating and enjoying) the presentations
    • Setting up and facilitating the post-visit brown-bag lunch with the teachers
    • Designing and hanging author posters, blogging about visits for the PS 321 website
    • Book ordering and scheduling author visits
      • Time Commitment

It is a wonderful opportunity to meet some extremely accomplished (and personable) authors and illustrators, and share in our children’s enthusiasm as they “Meet the Writers. Hosting days typically require 3-1/2 hours. There is some minimal pre- and post- visit preparation necessary. Parents can host as many or as few author visits as they wish. The committee is always open to parent participation.
