![]() | Beam Camp | Beam's program focuses on skill-building, collaborative challenge, responsibility and mentorship while retaining a culture of community, exploration and supported risk-taking. Each summer, our campers and staff build a unique and spectacular large-scale collaborative Project that serves as the centerpiece of the Beam experience. Projects are chosen from dozens of proposals by artists, architects, and big thinkers in our annual international design competition. To prepare for building the project and create their own Independent Project, each camper will participate in workshops based in key areas of making: Project & Building, Design & Prototyping, Electronics & Computing and Craft & Materials. Campers also choose multiple guest-led Domains, hands-on, discovery activities in the arts, performance, sciences, athletic or cultural fields. Every day campers also participate in community work, free time, and have the opportunity to participate lake time and athletic or active play. Nestled amongst the pine trees on Maine’s beautiful coastline, we have been providing children opportunities to laugh, learn, and explore the outdoors since 1915. Campers spend time learning about the natural world, remote travel, making friends, and, most importantly, themselves. Chewonki campers immerse themselves in fun and educational activities focused on community building, outdoor living skills, natural history, farm and food systems, and watercraft. Additional activity offerings include visual arts, performing arts, woodworking, and archery with opportunities for swimming, sports, and recreation during free time. Essential to the experience is a remote trip to a beautiful corner of Maine where they will develop transferable skills in camping and leadership to prepare them for more advanced leadership expeditions and life beyond their Chewonki summer. We offer a 3-week Full Session camp program for campers aged 10-15, and a 10-day introduction to overnight camp called the Puffin Program for campers aged 8-11. We are very proud of our many new camp areas and facilities. Recently, we added a large Dance Studio, built a new Cooking Area, added a Technical Theatre Area, added a new music studio, built GaGa courts and added a new camp amphitheatre. Our facility is filled with great activity areas and each year we add to our facility and program. Our facilities include: a beautiful lake and 2 pools, 2 baseball fields, 2 soccer fields, 5 basketball courts, 8 tennis courts, 3 volleyball courts, a hockey rink, a large multi-purpose gymnasium, a tremendous recreation hall/canteen, a large Arts Center with six individual arts studios, a Dance and Technical Theatre Center, Cooking studio, Musical Instruments Studio, go-karts track, archery area, golf driving range, climbing tower and zip line area, gymnastics pavilion, mountain biking trails, GaGa Courts, a beautiful overnights campsite and more…... Camp Eagle Hill offers a well rounded program with a balance of group and individually selected activities. We have a full Sports Program (with a tremendous gymnasium), extensive arts program, lots of waterfront activities, a strong performing arts program, campouts, trips, special events and much more. Camp Eagle Hill has a very large adult Staff and offers excellent supervision and instruction. Small camp groups at Eagle Hill allow for extra attention and care for the individual camper. ![]() | Textile Arts Center Intergenerational Workshops | Until we are able to safely be back in the studio together, TAC is running a variety of at home youth programming during the weekends and on school breaks! Intergenerational workshops are intended for all ages. In this 2-hour workshop young makers are invited to collect materials at home and pair up with a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, caregiver, friend, or sibling to create together! We recommend participation starting at age 5+. Please note ticket pricing is on a sliding scale. Suggested retail for space in the workshop is $20 per participant. MAKE IT! Studio | MAKE IT! Studio offers small-group After-School classes and Summer Camp for kids interested in fashion illustration, crafting, jewelry-making and sewing. Kids work with their hands making fun, creative fashion and craft projects to both wear and decorate their rooms with. Participants discuss, share, develop, and complete their own original works. In the daily elective sessions, writers choose from various electives, Graphic Novel, Screenwriting, Sketch Comedy, Worldbuilding, Songwriting, Musical Theater, Sci-fi/Fantasy, Mystery, Horror, Flash Fiction, Spoken Word Poetry, and more! Half-Day workshops meet Monday-Friday for 3-hours per day. Workshops are age-based and enroll a maximum of eight writers. These classes are a way to engage with textiles from the comfort of your own home. TAC Young Makers is a 2-hour class combining skills-based textile instruction with opportunities to troubleshoot and freely experiment with processes and materials.
