Our Early Bird program begins at 7:30am in the gym. Children enrolled in the program enter through the front doors, and are supervised by members of our teaching staff. The fee for the program ranges from $7 for a single drop-off to $80 a month for 5 mornings a week. For information or to register, stop by the gym between 7:30am and 8:30am and speak with the teacher in charge. Forms are available below or in the Parent Center and the main office.

The goal of PS 321’s after school is to offer an array of high quality programs that further enrich our children’s day. With the support of the PTA, we provide teacher and parent-volunteer led workshops at a low cost. These programs provide an environment that fosters healthy relationships among peers while instructors use talents and interests of their own to enrich the lives of students. Band Program (Monday or Wednesday)
4th Grade Beginning Band – Wednesdays from 2:50 – 4:05 pm
5th Grade Advanced Band – Mondays from 2:50 – 4:05 pm
The PS 321 Band is an after school program run in partnership with The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Specialized instructors from the Conservatory come to PS 321 twice a week and give small group instruction to our fourth and fifth grade students. The band performs several times a year. Band is a two year commitment. Each year, the fifth graders who played the year before as fourth graders are invited to return and the remaining spaces are open to current fourth graders who agree to make the two-year commitment. When applications exceed the space, there is a lottery. Band was originally paid for by a grant. When the grant expired, the PTA agreed to help maintain this program. Price will be determined at the beginning of the school year. The PTA subsidizes each paying student at 2:1 and also provides scholarships.
PS 321 owns approximately 60 musical instruments – woodwinds, brass, and percussion — and lends each child an instrument for the year. We are always looking for donated instruments!
Beginning Band (4th grade) meets every Wednesday from 2:50-4:05pm.
Advanced Band (5th grade) meets every Monday from 2:50-4:05pm.
Chorus (Wednesday 2:50 – 4:05 pm)
5th Grade Chorus: October – February
4th Grade Chorus: February – May
Directed by beloved music teacher Adam Lane, Chorus is a wonderful way for musically-inclined kiddos to spend time after school. Each session of Chorus runs for an average of 14 weeks, with rehearsals every Wednesday from 2:50 – 4:05 pm. There will be a winter and a spring concert for students to showcase the songs they’ve learned. Family and friends are encouraged to attend these special performances.
Kid’s Clubs are run by teachers and parent volunteers. The classes are always changing and range from origami to reading workshops to yoga to animation! Kid’s Clubs typically meet once a week from 2:50 – 4:05 pm for 8 or 9 weeks. There are generally 3 cycles throughout the year and registration precedes each cycle. The cost for most classes can range from $150 – $200 (with the exception of longer programs such as Band, Chorus & PAC) depending on the class length and materials fee. We are always looking for people to lead Kid’s Clubs which proves to be a very rewarding experience for parents and kids alike! If you volunteer to lead a class, your child gets automatic, free enrollment. You can even enlist the help of a friend to co-teach your class with you. If you are interested, please contact Courtney Gilbert, After School Coordinator via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chess at PS 321 is taught by instructors from Let’s Play Chess. Chess, in addition to being fun, has proven to be an excellent tool for teaching strategy, patience, focus and higher order thinking.
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students of all abilities are encouraged to join! Chess is offered during all three cycles of Kid’s Club throughout the year (fall, winter and spring) on multiple days. Due to high demand, however, children may only join ONE day.
Performing Arts Company (PAC – Monday 2:50 – 4:20 pm)
Open to students in the fourth and fifth grade, PAC is a musical theater program that combines acting, singing, dancing and play writing. Taught by instructors from Together in Dance (Director – Karen Curlee), the program fosters creativity and collaboration. The student’s work culminates in a spring performance that is performed in the auditorium for a school assembly, an evening performance, and usually a community venue. PAC is a weekly commitment with limited enrollment. Classes begin after the winter break and run through May.
